Cops Corral Beach 69 Street Shooter
Cops have busted a gangbanger who fired several shots in the direction of a group of people standing in front of a bodega at 69-20 Beach Channel Drive shortly after midnight on February 22, hitting and wounding one of them.
Police sources have identified the alleged shooter as Christopher Chinloy, 17, of 69-14 Hessler Avenue in Arverne.
According to court records supplied by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Chinoy, a member of the Crips gang, was spotted firing the shots into the crowd by Sergeant Craig Bier and Police Officer Donnell Myers, assigned to Queens Gang Squad.
The two got out of their car and saw Chinoy running from the scene, directly towards them. They saw him toss his gun into the air into a nearby grassy spot and later recovered the .40-caliber automatic, police sources say.
A 14-year-old was shot once in the buttocks. The unidentified victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Four shell casings were recovered from the scene, court sources say.
After arresting Chinloy, police found four plastic bags holding a quantity of marihuana.
Chinloy was arraigned on February 23 in Queens Criminal Court, charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, assault, reckless endangerment and possession of marihuana.
He is being held on $250,000 bail for his next hearing, is set for March 8.
