Pipeline Disaster

Dear Editor,

The gas pipeline that will hit land at the ocean side of Riis Park and continue beneath the peninsula, under the bay into Brooklyn was virtually pushed through political channels without hearings that include residents. As was discovered during the dig to extend the sewers under the Bay, drilling for that project took palates and palates of Silica, a carcinogen stored on the Great Lawn and launched into our atmosphere. Between the gas rig that was first shot down by Governor Christie, then Cuomo as potentially harmful to the beach and tourism, and now this, think of Rockaway as the Vieques of the United States.
