PHC Announces Employees Of Excellence
Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation has named their Employees of Excellence for the First Quarter of 2012.
Belinda Peoples, Unit Secretary, Critical Care and Telemetry Units, has been a part of the Peninsula Hospital Center family for nearly 28 years. As a unit secretary, Peoples is largely responsible for all the required coordination to admit and discharge patients along with answering the telephone calls for the floor and assisting with the preparation of patient charts. Peoples is held in very high regard by her peers and supervisors. Eunmi Kim, R.N. PhD., Director of Critical Care at the Hospital Center, is very pleased that Peoples was singled out to receive the Employee of Excellence Award. “Belinda sets the standard very high for unit secretaries,” says Kim. “She goes well above and beyond her job description. In any emergency situation, such as a Rapid Response, she assists the team in every way she can and goes well above the call of duty. Her performance enhances patient safety. She has really earned this recognition.”
Denise Sarjeant, a member of the Patient Access team, was singled out from among her peers particularly for the excellent job she does at Peninsula Center for
Extended Care and Rehabilitation. Denise is a lifelong resident of the Rockaways and has been at PHC/PCECR for six years. Her duties include registering patients in both facilities for laboratory work, physical therapy and the Family Health
Center. Receiving overwhelming support, Sarjeant’s peers emphasized her willingness to always go above and beyond for her colleagues and most importantly for the patients. Fluent in Spanish, Sarjeant offers translation services to Spanish speaking patients and always takes that extra step to assist in the completion of necessary forms. “Denise is someone I can always count on,” says Pat Wilkinson,
Director, Family Health Center. “When she is involved, everything is done perfectly and everyone is happy.” As the mother of two, Denise regards the PHC and
PCECR family as closely-knit and modestly gives credit and appreciation to her fellow co-workers who nominated her for this award.
PHC and PCECR select Employees of Excellence on a quarterly basis.
Nominations are accepted from the entire staff as well as from visitors or patients.
They are chosen by a selection committee based upon their employment record and how consistently they exemplify all aspects of PRIDE (Professionalism,
Respect, Initiative, Dedication and Empathy) as well as their ability to work as a member of a team.
