Turner Agrees Conventional Thinking Needed

Congressman Bob Turner received a positive response regarding a letter he recently sent to Governor Cuomo. In the letter, Congressman Turner asked that Queens Community Board 10 and local stakeholders be involved in planning of the Governor’s proposal to convert the Queens Aqueduct Racetrack into a convention center.

“I sent a letter requesting the Governor ensure that Queens Community Board 10 and local stakeholders are involved in the planning stages of this project. I appreciate Governor Cuomo’s understanding and willingness to consider them during the process. I strongly believe that it would be in the best interest of the project to have those who know the area provide feedback as to what approach would be most beneficial to this massive undertaking,” Turner said. In his written response to Turner, Cuomo stated, “We share a common goal of fostering a positive economic environment in order to get New Yorkers back to work, and I fully understand and appreciate your concerns for an open and transparent planning process with a key role reserved for the local community board.” Cuomo concluded by thanking Turner for the “good work that you do” and his eagerness to work together “to increase economic prosperity and opportunities for all New Yorkers.”
