Marjorie Elaine Griffith
Marjorie Elaine Griffith, 85, a longtime Rockaway resident, died January 19.
Griffith was born in Manhattan, New York on October 1, 1926. She was the founder of the Solid Rock Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was also a volunteer and den mother to her son’s Cub Scout troop. Griffith also worked with the homeless and participated in Christian ministry. She was a member of the NAACP and active in the PTA, as Co- President at P.S.49 in Bronx, New York.
Griffith was preceded in death by her parents, Edward B. Griffith and Naomi Niles.
She is survived by her sons, Kaaba Brunson, Atu and Jeff Bullock; daughter, Diane Childs; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment took place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, New York.
