Manhunt For Predator Ends In FR
A month-long manhunt that started in Connecticut ended in Far Rockaway last week when US Marshals busted a man hiding out inside a Lewmay Road house, wanted for a series of alleged sexual assaults in Connecticut, according to published reports.
Rafael Cruz, 32, whose registered address is in Stamford, Connecticut, was wanted by both Stamford and Norwalk police for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl. US Marshals are set to extradite Cruz back to Connecticut where he will be charged with second degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child, according to Stamford police. He also faces the same set of charges in Norwalk, Connecticut where he’s accused of having sex with the same girl prior to moving to Stamford last summer, according to published reports.
Police targeted Cruz after a Stamford woman brought her daughter, the 14- year-old victim, to the hospital after she saw Cruz having sex with her daughter the night before, police said.
Cruz has had prior arrests in New York and Connecticut on charges of armed robbery, first-degree assault and assault with a weapon and various other domestic charges. He was tracked down by Marshals when they located him from his cell phone signal.
