Lacrosse Clinic Held This Weekend At Peninsula Prep
A lacrosse clinic will be held this Saturday for boys currently enrolled in the fourth, fifth, or sixth grade. For those interested in learning how to play the sport, the clinic will be conducted at Peninsula Prep, located at Beach 113 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Kids can bring their own lacrosse equipment or players can use some lacrosse sticks which will be available. Justin Berman, who along with Swan Casey, are a few of the organizers who are helping to bring this camp together.
“We just want some folks to come down, check out lacrosse and see what it is about,” said Berman, one of the organizers of the event. “They will get a flavor of the game and learn some basics like throwing, catching, cradling and scooping.”
The fundamentals of lacrosse will be conducted by Andrew Sheridan, a local resident, who played lacrosse at Marist College and Nassau Community College. Rick Cincotti and Mike Demeo, the head coach of one of the top lacrosse teams in the country at Chaminade High School, will also be on hand to help conduct the clinic.
“I think it’s incredible we got these high quality former players and coaches to work with us,” Berman added. “I want the kids to come down, see what it is and have fun.”
