Edward ‘Butch’ McBride, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died January 21.

McBride was born in Rockaway Beach. He was a sandhog for Construction Local 147. McBride also served in the US Army from 1963 to 1973. He was the president of the Purple Hearts Chapter, Rockaway, New York.

He is survived by his sisters, Helene McGinn and Margaret Mason; brother, William McBride and many nieces and nephews.

Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
