William J. Dare

Breezy Point Co-op Security

William J. Dare, a longtime Rockaway resident, died January 15.

Dare was born in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to Rockaway 15 years ago from Ozone Park, New York. He worked security for the Breezy Point Cooperative and prior to that served in the US Marine Corps during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart.

Dare was preceded in death by his wife, Marie.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Dare, Susan Dushock (Michael) and Valerie Dare (Joe); grandchildren, Jessica, Natalie, Connor and Brian.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral took place at St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
