Michael T. Long


Michael T. Long, a longtime Rockaway resident, died January 12.

Long was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was a Rockaway resident for 12 years coming from Dover Plains, New York. He was a retired baggage foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Long also worked as a security officer for the New York Stock Exchange. He belonged to the St. Thomas More Holy Rosary Society and was at usher at the church as well.

Long was preceded in death by his wife, Elmira Nuetzel Long.

He is survived by his sons, Michael R. (Eileen) and Thomas M. (Anke); sister, Betty Alder; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral took place at St. Thomas More Church, Rockaway Point. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
