Rockaway Novas Team Continues At Colgate Games

Eight athletes of NY Novas Track and Field Club, Rockaway Team competed in the third week of Colgate Women’s Games 2012. The Colgate Women’s Games is the nation’s largest amateur track series open to all girls from elementary school through college.

Held at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute, the Games’ competitors participate in preliminary meets and semi-finals over five weekends throughout January. Finalists compete for trophies and educational grants-in-aid from Colgate-Palmolive Company at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

On Saturday, January 7, Kimmoya Gray (13) raced in the 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash in Mid-School Division. Novas’ coach, Mitsuko Washington (43), competed in the 1500-meter run in 30s Plus Division. On the next day, Sunday, January 8, Madison Garrett (7), Jade Smith (8), Iyana Lee (10), Kaydrianna Mimy (10), Janelle Smith (10) and Cyvleana Collins (11), all competed in 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash in Elementary Division. The next Colgate Women’s Game, week 4, will be held from Friday, January 13 to Sunday, January 15.
