William Donaldson, a longtime Rockaway resident, died December 26.

Donaldson was born on January 9, 1927 in Abbeville, South Carolina. In 1947, after a tour of duty in the US Army, he relocated to Queens.

Donaldson was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Donaldson-Wright and Willie Donaldson.

He is survived by his children, Tanya Dale Donaldson-Chavis (Derrick), Terry Romaine Donaldson-Whitmore, Karen Louise Donaldson-Harris (John Rodney) and Glenn Errol Donaldson (Maryann); grandchildren, Valeria S. Donaldson, David R. Whitmore Jr., Dashawn M. Whitmore, Damien E. Whitmore, Glenn E. Donaldson Jr., William S. Donaldson, Amber R. Donaldson,

Christopher R. Harris, and Kaiya D. Harris; cousin, Louise Jaye; nieces, Patricia O. Hill and Miriam L. Donaldson-Chapman; nephews, Anthony E. Donaldson and Brantley A. Donaldson; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
