Thomas F. Hedderson

Marine Engineer FDNY

Thomas F. Hedderson, a longtime Rockaway resident, died January 8.

Hedderson was born in Brooklyn, New York. He lived in Rockaway for 70 years and served in the US Navy during World War II. Hedderson later became a marine engineer for the New York City Fire Department. He was also a member of the Mayors Committee, Catholic Club, Emerald Society and Knights of Columbus Baron DeKalb Council.

Hedderson was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Hedderson nee Flynn.

He is survived by his sons, Paul, John and Thomas Hedderson; daughter, Janet Hedderson; brother, George Hedderson; and grandchildren, Michael, MaryAnn, Danielle, Paul and Christa.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass took place at St. Genevieve Church, Roxbury. Interment followed at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, New York.
