WCBS New York

Dear Editor,

You “don’t editorialize” and you “have devoted a lot of time to this issue.”

All (100%) WCBS coverage on today’s attack against Social Security deposits has used the negative (Republican) term “payroll tax,” and has (at least implicitly) presented the reduction from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent as some kind of benefit to Middle Class workers.

The proposed reduction is a bonanza only to the mass employers who would be relieved of 1/3 of their current obligation to match— at no cost to a worker — the worker’s deposits into the worker’s own segregated S.S. account for that worker’s later enjoyment. The proposed reduction would, in accord with long standing Republican (and Obama) objectives, bring much nearer the day of tipping from a condition of positive inflow/outflow now to a new unsustainable negative inflow/outflow for the S.S. trust fund.

Not just Gingrich, but Republicans as a party and Obama as a rightwing camouflaged saboteur, are thrusting the final death-knife into Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s great gift to America’s non-rich: and WCBS has so far been fully collaborating.
