Addabbo Thanks Many

Dear Editor,

The Mental Health Department of the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center hosted our annual Holiday Party on Thursday evening, December 15 at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Beach 90 Street in Rockaway Beach. This gala event was attended by Addabbo clients and their families along with our Clinic Staff; we are happy to report that this year’s turnout was the largest ever. The beautifully decorated and festive Hall at the Knights of Columbus, which has been the venue of our party for many years, and the ever-helpful participation of the Hall staff contributed to the general feeling of celebration. The marvelous entertainment provided by the Rockaway Players added immeasurably to the joyful holiday atmosphere. We would like to especially thank Dr. Peter Nelson, Executive Director, and the entire Addabbo Family for their unwavering support and help for our Clinic and our clients. Dr. Nelson joined us to welcome our families to the celebration.

We would also like to thank several local restaurants and businesses for their help in making our party so special. Goody’s Restaurant and Gary and Joan and Jeanne have been incredibly generous over the years in donating to and supporting all of our holiday parties, past and present. Danny at Boardwalk Bagels came through for us this year with wonderful heroes and extra sides and overflowing bags of assorted bagels to welcome in the holidays. Christie of Popeye’s, a local favorite, helped us to provide platters of yummy chicken. And finally, Glenn and Lisa and Mark at Mother Kelly’s, as usual, sent abundant and delicious Italian specialties to make sure that no one would go home hungry.

Thank you also to NSA Supermar- ket and to Stop & Shop for their generous contributions and their warm community spirit. A number of local pharmacies supported our party with their usual generosity and help. Thank you particularly to the Addabbo Health Center Pharmacy, to Stu and Jason at King’s Pharmacy, and to Mark at SMK Pharmacy for their unwavering and abundant support. Thanks also go to Mott Pharmacy, Belle-Rock Pharmacy, Ideal Pharmacy, Melmar Pharmacy, and to R and I Pharmacy and to Rock Pharmacy.

Most special thanks go to the Rockaway Players who have given us years of pleasure at all of our holiday parties. Thursday night, however, they outdid themselves with a lavish entertainment that thrilled and delighted all who were there.

We remembered with all our love Peg Vivino, who was a driving force in bringing the Players to our celebrations and who lives on in our hearts and in the glorious costumes that she created and which were worn Thursday night in her memory.

We are especially grateful to the children from the Rockaway Players, who took it upon themselves to decorate and fill Christmas stockings with toys to be given as gifts.

Finally, thank you to all of our clients, their families, and friends. We wish you all a joyous and happy holiday and a glorious and peaceful New Year. Happy 2012 to all!
