Sorrentino Hosts Annual Double Dutch Competition

Sorrentino Recreation Center hosted the 21st Annual Double Dutch Holiday Festival Tournament on Monday. Teams from all over the state converged on the center to compete in categories from third grade through high school in either the novice or advanced divisions.

Among the many awards presented, first place in the High School division went to Rockaway’s own Stan’s Jr. Pepper Steppers.

Mrs. Brown’s Jumpers, the Pepper Steppers’ sister team from P.S. 40 Sports and Arts School Foundation in Brooklyn, took first and second place in doubles for fourth and fifth grades, first and second place in fifth grade advanced, first place for novice for the fourth and fifth grades, second place for the fourth grade and first place for the third grade.
