Championship FridayAt Christmas Tournament

The 27th Annual St. Francis de Sales Christmas Tournament resumed play on Monday and is headed down the homestretch to the championship games. SFDS Blue is set for the Subnovice championship game that was scheduled for Thursday. They await the winner of St. Adalbert and St. Patrick.

The Pee Wee division still has three games remaining after a tough loss for SFDS Blue on Monday night. St. Margaret prevailed to move to the final of the elimination bracket. St. Patrick and St. Joseph are in the final of the Winner’s bracket. The winner of their game advances to the championship. The loser faces St. Margaret to decide the other slot in the championship on Thursday night.

In the Novice division, St. Francis was matched against Our Lady of the Angelus in the Winner’s bracket with St. Rose awaiting in the elimination bracket and the championship scheduled for Thursday. In the Bantam division, St. Francis beat Epiphany on Monday night and is now set for the championship on Friday night (tonight) at 6:00 p.m. against either St. Rose or Epiphany.

St. Patrick beat St. Andrew and will now be in the Rookie division championship at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis defeated Tri-Parish and was scheduled to play St. Andrew to determine St. Patrick’s opponent in the championship. St. Rose looked formidable in the Intermediate winner’s bracket final against St. Francis. St. Francis will now have to beat St. Margaret a second time to get a rematch with St. Rose in the closing game of the 2011 tournament at 9:00 p.m. on Friday.

Only the best remain and the championship action will be exciting. The Special Awards ceremony will follow the 7:15 games. See you then at St. Francis gym and Happy New Year to all.
