Far Rock Gun Toting Thugs Arrested
The Far Rockaway men accused of sending cops on a wild goose chase after firing shots from their vehicle appeared in court this week for their November 26 arrest, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.
Kwame Norman, 22, and John Whitmore-Wright, 23, both from Far Rockaway, were driving a Nissan sedan on McBride Street near Hollywood Court at about 6 p.m. that night when they fired shots outside the car window towards the entrance of the building located at 13-88 McBride Street causing a woman walking with her baby into the apartment building to duck for cover in the hallway, police said. No one was injured and police are still seeking a motive for the shooting.
As police began to pursue them, however, they nearly collided with two cop cars before crossing into oncoming traffic forcing cars to swerve out of harm’s way and eventually turning down a dead end street. The men got of the car and began to flee on foot before police apprehended them. Norman and Whitmore-Wright were charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, menacing, harassment, attempted assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The men are being held on $200,000 bail each while they await trial.
