Armed Robbery At Family Dollar; Early Morning Pharmacy Break-in
Police sources told The Wave that between 4:47 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on December 17 one armed robber entered the Family Dollar store at 1479 Beach Channel Drive. While the source said that detectives responded to the store and evidence was collected, no further official information was available. A cashier told the newspaper that approximately $200 was taken. It is hoped that, with the many cameras throughout the store, the suspect will be caught soon. No one was injured during the robbery.
Family Dollar stores from the east coast to the Midwest have been hit with a rash of robberies in the last few months. On August 24 a store in Jamaica was robbed and upstate in Buffalo a guard was shot during a Family Dollar robbery in June. Among Family Dollar stores hit in other states, eight stores were robbed in November in Providence, Rhode Island.
On November 18, Vista Pharmacy, located at 529 Beach 20 Street in Far Rockaway, was a victim of an early morning break-in. According to police, between approximately 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. “unidentified individuals entered the location through a rear door and removed cash and a quantity of Oxycodone. There is no description of the suspect(s).”
