Boyle-ing Points

Commentary By Kevin Boyle

’Twas The Night Before

’Twas the night before Christmas and all through the Rock
People were still talking about Weiner’s jock

He’d gotten racy then denied it with flair
In hopes that voters would hardly care

But one after another, a Donna, then Vixen
He fell faster than Richard Nixon

Turner’s supporters were no longer miffed
He’d been handed the biggest gift

So Bob Turner leaped – or got up very slowly – from his bed
With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Happy to know he was no longer dead

He ran and beat Weprin, a forgettable hack
Then told Rockaway he’d soon be back

Now his feet are still wet so this might be mean
But since winning election he hasn’t been seen

Maybe he’s in Congress passing some bills
Or just paying attention to Forest Hills

People will tell me just give him some time
But he’s a public figure and he fits the rhyme

No kidding to all, as a poet I fail
But I’m not as boring as The Bag of Mail.

The letters are endless and worth a good snooze
They make me look twice at the holiday booze.

And before I again, drop full out of sight
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!
