Ann Culpepper, a former Rockaway resident, died December 3.
Culpepper was born on June 12, 1924. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama. She was baptized by Dr. Larry Ellis, Pastor of St. John Baptist Church, Far Rockaway where she served as a member of the Senior Usher Board. She later joined First Baptist Church in Far Rockaway. Culpepper attended the Lee County Training School Auburn, Alabama. She moved to Long Island, New York with her husband in 1949. In 2005 Culpepper moved to Colorado after the death of her son, Steven.
Culpepper was preceded in death by her parents, Square and Lucille Vickerstaff; husband, George Culpepper; son, Steven; brothers, George, Arthur, Square, Jr. and John Lee; sister, Jean.
She is survived by her son, Dr. William Culpeper; sister, Mildred; godsons, Raymond Huggins, Brian Huggins and Robert Lee Huggins, III.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York, where a service will take place on Saturday, December 17, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, New York.
