Cops ID Mystery Jamaica Bay Body

Police officers from the 100 Precinct, responding to a call of a man in the water near the Marine Parkway –Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge at about 4:28 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving, found an Asian male floating in the bay. Harbor units pulled the unresponsive man from the water and brought him to the former Coast Guard Station at Fort Tilden. EMS workers responding to the scene declared him dead on arrival. Technicians from the Medical Examiner’s office transported the body to the ME’s Manhattan office. On Tuesday, police sources identified the man as Shao Xiang-Xun, 39, of 288 Broome Street in Manhattan. According to a spokesperson for the ME, who spoke with The Wave earlier this week, an autopsy was inconclusive and the cause of death is still pending investigation. Photo by Howard Schwach.
