The Kosmos GU10 Nikh team has finished the fall 2011 soccer season in second place in the NM Division of the Long Island Juniors Soccer League. The team finished the season off last Saturday, with a tough loss against the Division’s number 1 undefeated team, Hicksville Hotshotz. Nikh held their ground and worked very hard during the game.
Their best game of the season was during the storm on Saturday, October 29 against Farmingdale Fire. Nikh played one of their strongest games of the season beating past rivals, Farmingdale, 2-1. Nikh is looking forward to attending multiple indoor tournaments over the weekend and has recently signed up for the New York State Cup and will continue the LI Jr. Soccer League in the spring. The Rockaway Kosmos are seeking girls, ages 8 - 15 years old, interested in playing soccer. Those interested may contact the Kosmos at email@example.com.
How many soccer games can one team play in a weekend? Kosmos’ Eris played three winning games this past weekend allowing them to finish the fall 2011 season undefeated in the GU10 Bronze Division of the Just Say Soccer League.
On a late afternoon Saturday, Eris played at the Caton Avenue soccer fields again the Brooklyn AYSO Tornadoes, beating them 1-0.
Early Sunday morning, the team met again at Fort Tilden to take on rivals BWG Cosmos repeating the win from the day before with the score 2-1. At noon, Eris played against Central Brooklyn SC Champs. This was a very exciting game.
Forwards Victoria Catalano, Annaliese O’Leary, Julia Necka-Huptysiowska and Emma Davey put extreme pressure on the Champs defensively. Victoria Catalano scored the first goal for the team. Fullbacks Sabrina Mc- Carthy, Sydney Urban and Lauren Koenig protected the Eris goal at all times. The team sent in another set of powerful forwards Kristin Green, Grace Butler, Katherine Savastano and Maeve Murnan who again put the Champs on their toes. Fullbacks Noelle Carey, Kate McNamara and Taylor Green also kept the Champs pretty much away from goalie Emma Baldwin. The ending score was Kosmos 4, Champs 1.
