High School Roundup: Scholars’Eliminated
The Scholars’ Academy girls’ volleyball team was eliminated in the PSAL B girls semifinals last Saturday. Number 4 seed Goldstein defeated the top seed Seawolves 2-0 (25-22, 26-24) at York College.
Scholars finished their campaign at 14-1 and were upended in their quest to repeat as PSAL champions. The Seawolves had defeated Campus Magnet in the quarterfinals on November 17. Basketball
Beach Channel/Channel View was defeated in their first game at the PSAL A Division on Tuesday afternoon. Hillcrest was led by 32 points from Danielle Pearce as they defeated the Lady Dolphins 61-35. Beach Channel was dropped form the Queens AA Division to the restructured Queens A East. The team will have a new coach in Sam Innes, who has guided the girls lacrosse team to two PSAL city titles.
The Scholars’ Academy girls team will begin their attempt on winning their second straight PSAL B city championship with a home game on Tuesday (4:30 p.m.) against Far Rockaway Educational Campus.
The boys varsity team at Beach Channel/Channel View will host Campus Magnet on Tuesday afternoon in the opening game of the PSAL AA season at 5 p.m.
The Scholars’Academy boys varsity team will start their season in PSAL B game against Renaissance High School on Tuesday in Long Island City.
Far Rockaway Educational Campus will aim to make the playoffs for the fourth consective year in a row.
The boys varsity team hosts High School for Construction on Thursday, December 2 in a Queens A East divisional matchup.
