Harassment Is Not My Intent

Dear Editor,

Let me say that it is not my intent to harass anyone regarding the noise that is coming from the Boars Head truck that is parked at Bulloch’s Service station every night. It is my intent to defend my and my family’s right to enjoy our home and property in relative peace and quiet. I understand that both gentlemen have to make a living to provide for themselves and their families however they don’t have to live next to a situation like this. I’m sure if the tables were turned and a truck making the same noise was parked in their neighbor’s driveway they would seek to correct the problem. With that said I would like to extend an invitation to both the owner of the truck and the service station to come to my house between the hours of 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. while the compressor is running so they can experience the noise for themselves. During the evening in good weather we are unable to enjoy our backyard or leave our windows open for fresh air or a breeze due to the constant droning noise that comes from the truck’s compressor. At night when the ambient background noise from the neighborhood has died down the noise from the truck is intensified making it difficult for my family and myself to enjoy a good night’s rest. After a long day at work and dealing with everyday life this is something that everyone is entitled to. The owner of the truck says that I am the only one complaining about the noise and that is true. I am the only one complaining to him, however several of my neighbors on Beach 130 Street and at least one neighbor on Beach 129 Street have expressed their concern to me about the noise coming from the truck at night. I would also like to extend an invitation to the owner of the truck and the service station to sit down with me over a cup of coffee to discuss the situation and listen to what I think is a viable solution to the problem. If you are willing to do this please contact me.
