Bloomberg Must Go

Dear Editor,

I think that it is terrible that, after two months, a class of motivated students does not have a regular teacher in a subject as important as English.

The lack of a teacher to address a class seems to be symptomatic of other, larger problems -- a school without a cohesive program, many schools where there are no physical education classes at all, several schools where violence keeps the motivated students away from their classrooms.

There is a systemic problem in our public schools that is driven by the one educatonal goal that matters to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his handpicked chancellor. -- standardized test scores. We can only hope that real education will return when Bloomberg finally leaves office.
