Bernie Feuer Presents 'By The Sea'
The story of the beautiful Rockaways of days gone by will come to life in “By The Sea, By The Beautiful Sea,” a multimedia presentation by historian Bernie Feuer. The Rockaway Artists Alliance will host this encore event at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 4 at their sTudio 7 gallery at Fort Tilden.
A show which weaves together words and pictures, “By the Sea, By the Beautiful Sea,” invites viewers in to see historic pictures of the rides, the attractions, the hotels, boardwalks and landmarks and learn about the seaside’s rich history.
Feuer, known for his informative and well received historical presentations, will guide his audience through the lives of the first families to settle in Rockaway, its first visitors and the millions who were drawn to its shores and amusements.
Having drawn capacity crowds for previous presentations, Feuer will bring words, music and historic images to paint a picture of Rockaway in its heyday as a holiday resort destination. He will follow the era when boxing champion John L. Sullivan, world renowned film star Charlie Chaplin and entertainer Mae West called Rockaway their East Coast Playground. He will also tell you about the two villains who destroyed this Rockaway way of life. The RAA invites you to dip into the past, take a ticket for a carousel ride of memories, and enjoy this special encore presentation of “By the Sea, By the Beautiful Sea.”
