Power To The People
As you are well aware the Occupy Wall Street, OWS, is growing each day throughout America and the rest of the world. In the smallest corners of the world the word OCCUPY is used at demonstrations. We cannot let this movement fail.
Our leaders are hoping the cold nights of winter will put an end to it all. That is not going to happen this time, or any time soon. The spirits of the people have been broken by a failed and corrupt system that has taken the fight out of them until OWS came along and renewed their faith in the American way of life.
This is like magic, and in a way it is magic because the people are joined together with compassion and hope. One has to visit OWS to grasp the true meaning of democracy.
The Nay Sayers are few and far between. Maybe a few malcontents on Fox News, but other than that there is only praise from all over the world for OWS. We are all together in the same boat and it is sink or swim. So row like hell lads: the water is deep, the boat is leaking, there’s a long way to go but your determination will guide you safely to shore.
I belong to the Outreach Group that meets every night at 52 Broadway, first floor at 6:00 p.m. It is there you are welcome to come and be heard and voice your opinion as to how things can be changed to give everyone a fair shot at the American dream. As in OWS there are no leaders. Everyone who attends is a leader. I know this way is confusing to many American people but it works and it works very well. Strangely enough some of the 1%ers have joined OWS. They know there is something radically wrong and they want to help. I know, I know, beware of strangers bearing gifts. They are aware that their profits have risen about 300% in the past thirty years while the profits of the working class have actually dropped 18%, but many believe that there is even a bigger spread between the rich and the blue collar workers if you take into consideration the rise in wages versus the rise in the cost of living. According to the latest public opinion polls our Congress is at 9% approval rating. This figure is embarrassing, but not to the Congressional members or the Wall Street Bankers. The word, Embarrassment, is not in their vocabulary.
I have a plan that I am going to present to Outreach and if it is adopted it will be taken to the General Assembly of OWS. I believe in order to make change without disturbing the Constitution the only way to do that is to vote the incumbents out, ALL of THEM. Of course that is easier said than done. Never before in America did the people have such an opportunity and desire to form a new political party.
For now let’s call it, Occupy America Party. Come down and join us. Let your concerns and ideas be heard.
Most importantly, demand that the power be restored to the people.
