All the controversy and distractions the Beach Channel/ Channel View team have gone through this year on the football field did not stop them from reaching the PSAL Bowl playoffs.

The Dolphins clinched the sixth and final playoff berth last Sunday afternoon with a 28-0 home victory over Springfield Gardens.

Beach Channel finished the regular season with a 6-3 record and travels to number three seed Grady (7-2) in a first round Bowl playoff game to be held on Sunday at noon.

“My team is battle tested with all the adversity, all the distraction,” said Beach Channel coach Victor Nazario. “Taking our win away. Back to back games on the field we lost. My kids got punched in the mouth a bit.”

Beach Channel RB Justin Zemser scored two touchdowns and rushed for 94 yards on three attempts. Breland Archbold had a rushing touchdown and completed a scoring pass to Henry Adegunle.

The Dolphins did not have runningback Diequan Underwood, who had scored four touchdowns in a win over Bayside two weeks ago. He missed the game according to Nazario for disciplinary reasons.

Beach Channel’s defense has improved in the last few games which gives Nazario optimism in Sunday’s playoff games. Springfield was held to only 47 yards total offense.

Beach Channel must play aggressive and tackle well against Grady’s main’s offense target is senior RB Brent Rachel, who rushed for 251 yards in Week 5 in a 26-6 victory over Beach Channel. Rachel has compiled a total of 1300 yards. Girls Volleyball
