PHC Cites ‘Employees Of Excellence’
Merline Clarke, LPN, works on 3 Ocean in PCECR. Clarke has been with Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation since 2006 and received numerous accolades from her superiors and from the residents. During the recent hurricane, Merline accompanied residents to their temporary lodgings and stayed with them until their return. As the residents all related, seeing a familiar face was one of the most important and positive aspects of their evacuation experience. “Merline is a dedicated professional and a most generous person”, said Denise Lobody, RN, Assistant Director of Nursing. “She personifies everything we want in oxur staff – a real team player who leads by example.”
Edsil Williams is the Materials Manager for the Operating Room. He has been an employee of the Hospital Center since 1989 and according to his fellow workers and superiors, greatly deserves to be singled out for a “job well done.” “Edsil is one who quietly goes about performing his duties,” said Robin Blackwell, RN, Vice President, Nursing Services, Chief Nurse Executive. “He is reliable and always pleasant to work with. When Edsil is involved, everyone can depend on the fact that the job will not only be done, but done well. Edsil is a very important part of the Hospital Center’s team.” PHC and PCECR select Employees of Excellence on a quarterly basis.
Nominations are accepted from the entire staff as well as from visitors or patients. They are chosen by a selection committee based upon their employment record and how consistently they exemplify all aspects of PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Initiative, Dedication and Empathy) as well as their ability to work as a team.
