Electrical Union Recruits Applicants
The Westchester-Fairfield Joint Electrical Apprenticeship Committee, IBEW Local Union #3, will conduct a recruitment from November 7, 2011 through November 18, 2011 for 50 electrician apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor has announced.
Applications can be obtained by sending a registered letter only to: Westchester Fairfield Joint Electrical Apprenticeship Committee, P. O. Box 720, White Plains, NY 10602. The registered letter requesting an apprentice application must contain name (print), address including zip code, and social security number. It is the applicant’s responsibility to retain the post office receipt for the registered letter.
Letters must not be postmarked before November 7 or after November 18, 2011. Letters will be accepted according to their stamped postmark date during this 10-day period, or until 1,000 registered letters are received.
Do not send the letters by “Certified Mail.” The registered letter requirement will be waived for applicants who: are receiving public assistance, and are referred by the New York State

These applicants will be allowed to use regular mail instead. Letters sent via regular mail must be mailed in an envelope from the New York State Department of Labor Division of Employment Services. Proof of public assistance payments is required with the request for an application.
Completed applications must be mailed to: Westchester-Fairfield Joint Electrical Apprenticeship Committee, 200 Bloomingdale Road, White Plains, NY 10605, and postmarked no later than December 30, 2011.
The Committee requires that applicants: Must be at least 18 years old Must have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D), with a passing grade for one year of
Algebra – transcript required after acceptance into the program Must be physically able to perform all phases of the work required, as determined by a complete physical examination by a physician selected by the committee, at the committee’s expense, after selection into the program Must have lived within a 50-mile radius of White Plains, NY, including
Connecticut, for the past two years – affidavit of residence to be completed Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation to work and related instruction classes.
May drive company-owned vehicles. Must report for aptitude test when scheduled

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans.
