FDNY Bravest Boxers Take On NYPD Boxing

The FDNY Bravest Boxing team will take on the NYPD Fighting Finest Boxing team at The Battle of the Badges on Saturday, November 19 at 8 p.m. at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

The night will feature 12 three-round matches featuring FDNY members versus NYPD members, with the FDNY team looking for an unprecedented fourth straight victory. The FDNY Boxing team will donate proceeds earned from the event to the organization Building Homes for Heroes, to build a home for United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant James Byler of Huntington, NY.

Lt. Byler lost both legs when he stepped on an improvised explosive device while on patrol in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.

The FDNY Boxing team hopes to raise enough money to pay for major home renovations to meet Lt. Byler’s needs. The FDNY Boxing team competes in several amateur boxing matches each year, including last summer’s World Police and Fire Games in New York City. In the past several years, the FDNY Bravest Boxing team has donated over $50,000 to military related charities.

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster and at the Madison Square Garden Box Office.
