Joseph Pedlar, 48, a former Rockaway resident, died October 25.
Pedlar was born in Rockaway Beach on May 31, 1963. He received his political science degree from Syracuse University in 1985. He went on to become a certified financial planner and worked in this capacity for 22 years. Pedlar served on the board of numerous organizations that included the Albany Boys and Girls Club, the Center for Disability Services, One Hundred Black Men, the NAACP, the East Greenbush YMCA, and the Montessori School of Albany. He was a devout member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Albany, New York and became an ordained deacon in 2005.
He is survived by his parents, Yvonne and Joseph Pedlar Sr.; wife of 22 years, Linda Davis-Pedlar; children, Nija and Michaela; siblings, Theresa Fulmore, Roslyn Pedlar-Onderdonk (Michael), Sheila (Raymond Fomby), Elaine, Robert (Kristina), and Matthew; mother in-law, Barbara Davis; brothers-inlaw, Lawyer Davis (Sharon) and Harris (Michael); sister-in-law, Monique (Davis); and numerous adoring nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Internment took place at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Albany, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joseph Pedlar Scholarship Fund, in care of Macedonia Baptist Church.
