Dirty Doings

Dear Editor,

Are the garbage cans ever emptied along Beach 116 Street?

It is embarrassing to see the garbage cans overflowing in our neighborhood.

Since the hurricane there are half – if not fewer – cans on the strip. I spoke to a senior member of the Sanitation Department last week (senior I say because he had on a white shirt) as he was talking to a group of reporters or whatever. He said he’d look into why the garbage cans are not emptied more often. Did he? Guess not. Where are the Doe Men?

They are few and far between from what I can see. Their full bags are piling up uncollected as well. Is it due to budget cuts? I guess our local congressmen don’t walk on 116th because there aren’t any worthy votes to be had. Just because the “Summer Season” is over the business district still needs cans. If the locals are expected to shop local at least make it a more eye-catching experience. Bad enough the Rockaway Park Hotel Sleaze Bag owner has practically singlehandedly brought the scum of the earth here to roost in front of the place; at least we can remove this garbage.
