Thug Busted In Attempted Robbery
An alleged thief was arrested last week for attempting to rob a man at knifepoint outside the Beach 98 Street train station for his headphones, according to police.
George Spigner, 20, of Arverne approached the unidentified male at approximately 11 a.m. at Beach 97 Street and Rockaway Freeway and demanded the headphones from the victim. He allegedly took the knife, swung it in the direction of his face and cut the cord of the headphones. He then punched the victim in the face and fled the scene of the crime.
Police apprehended Spigner a few hours later and brought him to Queens Criminal Court where he was arraigned on charges of attempted robbery, assault, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon. Bail was set at $7,000.
