Many Thanks For The Help
My wife and I would like to thank everyone who stopped to help after my bike accident on the boardwalk on Sunday, October 9.
When my bike hit a gap in the cement and stopped short, I went flying over the handlebars and ended up with numerous injuries.
Many thanks to the young man who happened to be an emergency room doctor (unfortunately, we did not get his name in the chaos of the moment). Also, thank you to Kathy, Maggie, Margaret and Theresa whose compassion and care (and Kathy’s nursing experience) were very comforting. These terrific women gave first aid and stayed with our bikes until our son arrived. In addition, many thanks to Chris and his friends Jake and Neil for dropping everything (including the football game that was about to start!) and bringing the bikes home. We didn’t have to focus on anything except getting to the hospital as quickly as possible. As for the EMTs who showed up, after things calmed down and we had time to think about it, we were very puzzled as to why they did not offer a neck brace or stretcher after obtaining the history of the accident and seeing my injuries. They should have erred on the side of caution and presumed there were neck injuries that needed to be stabilized.
Once in the hospital, the care I received from the triage nurse, the P.A. and the CAT scan and x-ray techs was professional, compassionate and speedy. Also, thanks to Patti and Michelle for checking in. We feel very blessed to have such caring friends and neighbors in our community.
