BCAC Midget Shamrocks Return Home This Weekend

The BCAC Midget Shamrocks took to the road last Saturday to face the North Babylon Bulldogs. It was a tough, physical game that had the Shamrocks banged up in the first half. The Bulldogs defense was relentless and held the Shamrocks to only three first downs in the first half.

Despite this the Shamrocks only trailed 14-0 at the half. This was mainly due to the once again impressive Shamrock defense led by Nicholas Rodgers, Luke Jackowski, Antonio Pagan, Vincent Powell and Sam Fretto. Andrew Visconti came up with a huge touchdown saving tackle and Sebastian “King of the Ring” Frieberg came up big as well in his first ever start at linebacker.

After an inspirational speech at halftime (the speech by the way rivaled the one given by Kurt Russell in “Miracle”), the Shamrocks were ready to take the field and give the Bulldogs a run for their money. The offensive line, made up of Liam Doda, Giancarlo Conti, JJ Negron, Ryan Hanning and Michael Bukiewicz, blocked for very big runs by Jack Collins, Peter Meehan and Dillon Ostrander. The Shamrocks would finally get on the board with a 2-yard touchdown run by Michael O’Connell.

Then rookie sensation Eddie Sinisgalli would get his first rushing attempt of the year and came up just short of the goal line on the extra point attempt. The Shamrocks would lose another tough one 20-6. It was a great second half and the BCAC Midget Shamrock coaches were proud of their team. Now it is time for the BCAC Shamrock Fan of the Week, and it goes to Jose Negron. JJ’s father is always one of the first parents at every practice and game.

He comes fired up to root on the Shamrocks, and rumor has it he has promised to bake Coach Sean some cookies. Also there was a previous Fan of the Week sighting at the Broad Channel Memorial Field two weeks ago; none other than Tommy “the Mailman” McCabe. It’s nice to see former fans of the week making it out to the field to cheer on their old team. The Shamrocks are home at Broad Channel Memorial Field on Sunday to take on Plainedge at 11:30am.
