Peanut Shamrocks Draw Against West Babylon
The 2011 BCAC Peanut Shamrocks traveled to West Babylon on a sunny Sunday morning.
The BCAC offense won the coin toss and elected to receive. They stalled on their first possession but Matthew Stack broke a tackle and bolted 35 yards to tie the game 6-6.
On their next possession, Lukas Weiss scored on a 40-yard running scissor play as FB Hayden Malsy threw a key block, one of many throughout the morning. The score was tied 12-12 heading into halftime. The BCAC defense opened up the second half making tackle after tackle.
The defensive line of Frankie Sinisgalli (2 sacks, 2 tackles) James Arena, Brendan Henglein, Jeremiah O’Shea and Hayden Malsy (1 tackle each) along with linebackers Danny Ognian (2 tackles), Joseph Esposito (4 tackles), Aiden Leary (1 tackle), Lukas Weiss (6 tackles) and free safety Matthew Stack (6 tackles) were solid in the second half.
The Shamrocks stopped West Babylon on their first possession of the second half, but West Babylon scored on their second to take an 18-12 lead.
The offense took the field with 8 minutes left in the game. The line of Frankie Sinisgalli, Lukas Weiss, Logan Hilgendorf, Joseph Esposito, and James Arena fired off the ball creating holes for Aiden Leary on a 40-yard dive play to tie the game at 18. West Babylon’s offense took over and the Shamrock Defense was ready for the challenge. Birthday boy Danny Ognian, Matthew Stack and Aiden Leary made tackles on the final series and Lukas Weiss sealed the tie with a game ending tackle.
