Broncos Narrowly Defeat BCAC Midget Shamrocks

The BCAC Midget Shamrocks lost a tough game this past Sunday to the Seaford Broncos 27-20. The Shamrocks would go down 19-0 in the first half, but the never say die attitude of these young warriors kept them in the game.

The BCAC offense was sparked by quarterback Jack Collins and runningbacks Peter Meehan (two touchdowns and 99 yards rushing) and Dillon Ostrander (one touchdown and 76 yards rushing.) The offensive line had its work cut out for them all day long, trying to keep the blitzing Bronco’s out of their backfield. The blocking was led by Sam Fretto, Thomas Houck, Luke Jackowski, Ed Sinisgali, JJ Negron, Liam Doda, Ryan Hanning, Vincent Nizzo and Giancarlo Conti.

The defense started out slow, but came up with big stops in the second half when it was needed the most. Michael Bukiewicz recovered a fumble on the goal line and Michael O’Connell led all Shamrocks with 9 tackles on the day. Other big names on defense were Andrew Visconti, Nick Rogers, Vincent Powell and Antonio Pagan.

The Shamrocks scored on the last play of the game and time ran out on their comeback attempt as they lost by one touchdown. This weekend, the Shamrocks hope to get back to their winning ways as they take on Wantagh this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be at Broad Channel Memorial Field.

Now it is time for this week’s Shamrock Fan of the Week, and it goes to Pete Ward. Pete made the trip all the way to Seaford (he stowed away in the Meehan’s car) to watch the Shamrocks play. He offered to buy food for Coach Sean and Gene (only if Gene lent him a car), and offered his expert analysis of the game to all fans listening on the sidelines.

Congrats to Pete Ward, the BCAC Fan of the Week and also congrats to the BCAC Pee Wee Shamrocks on their first win of the year against West Babylon.
