Pure Union Busting

Dear Editor,

Our governor, Andrew Cuomo, has threatened to lay off thousands of state workers, in a time of high unemployment, because the Public Employees Federation rejected a five-year contract. This contract called for furloughs (which is decreased wages), no increases in wages for two years, and increased health insurance premiums.

Physicians, nurses, scientists, accountants, investigators, teachers are the members of this union. Their employment is so essential to the state the governor, according to the Albany Times Union, will outsource the work to private employees.

This is pure union busting. It would appear we have bipartisan consensus in this country – bust the unions.

Tax revenue is going

Tax revenue is going down--not up. City, state and federal government has grown too large to support. It's not rocket science. If unions keep on going without concession, the government will run out of cash. Then everyone is out of a job. We can call it the great depression part II as that is where we'll be at. It's like unions think that the money just appears from nowhere. The public are fleeced to the max, now it is time to shrink government. A candidate or incumbent who doesn't get this, shouldn't even be considered for public office.

If you have followed the news

If you have followed the news the last year, you would have seen that the only people supporting unions are those in them. With the rough times we are all experiencing, people barely hanging on to their jobs and receiving little or no raises, no one wants to hear someone saying they are entitled to lfetime jobs. We all work hard and should be able to support our families but greed is doing us in.
