H.S.Roundup: SeahorsesWin First Game

Far Rockaway Educational Campus needed a starting QB to lead them on the field last Saturday afternoon at home to Info Tech.

The Seahorses turned to runningback Romello White to fill the role and in first ever start, the junior threw for a touchdown pass and rushed for 173 yards as Far Rockaway won 22-8.

White started the scoring with a 57- yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. He followed up with a 40-yard run on the ensuing offensive possession to set up Darin Cuthbert’s 8-yard touchdown run to put the Seahorses up 14-0. WR Adray Kingston caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from White near the end of the first half.

Far Rockaway’s defense, which was led by 13 tackles from Laroy Ellis and 11 from Shymeek Harris, only allowed a late fourth quarter touchdown. The Seahorses, who evened their league record in the PSAL Cup Division to 1-1, and 1- 2 overall, will host Stuyvesant (1-2) on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Dolphins Shutout Lafayette

Diequan Underwood was an allaround force for Beach Channel/Channel View last Saturday, recording a touchdown on offense, defense and special teams as the Dolphins routed Lafayette Educational Complex, 32-0. Underwood completed a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown, an interception score on defense, along with 89 yards rushing and a touchdown run.

Henry Adegunle and Javis Black also scored touchdowns for the Dolphins. Ibraheem Wynn and Michael Roman each recovered two forced fumbles on defense. Beach Channel (3-0) travels to Madison (3-0) in a battle of unbeatens in the PSAL Bowl Division on Sunday at 12 p.m. Roundup

The defending PSAL ‘B’ girls volleyball champions Scholars’ Academy are 3-0 after defeating Beach Channel in two sets, 25-17, 25-15, in a match held at Springfield Gardens High School on Monday.

Estefan Andino and Ingrid Requeno each scored a goal to lead Beach Channel (4-1, 13 points) to a 2-1 win over Springfield Gardens in a PSAL girls ‘B’- V Division soccer game on Tuesday.

Joduane La Ahonon recorded three goals as the Beach Channel boys soccer team got their first win of the season, 5- 2, over Thomas Edison in a PSAL ‘A’ Queens West division game held on Wednesday afternoon.
