Pony Shamrocks Earn First Win On The Road
The Broad Channel Pony Shamrocks traveled to Farmingdale last Sunday and picked up their first win of the season. The Shamrocks were led on offense by Quarterback Cameron Manzi. He received key blocks from teammates Michael Edwards, Vincent Visconti, Michael Henglein, Johnny Weiss, Charlie Bostwick, Timmy McCabe and Mike Reardon. Broad Channel would score quickly on a 56-yard touchdown run by Patrick Minihane.
The offense would put a nice drive together late in the second quarter with runs from John O’Rourke, Bryan Bostwick and Joshua Paul, and would score on a 6-yard touchdown run from Tristen Dougherty. Timmy McCabe caught the extra point from QB Cameron Manzi to take a 13-0 lead at the half.
Broad Channel’s defense would keep Farmingdale scoreless with big tackles from Steven Kenny, Danny Clark, Nick Nardo and Joey Alvarado. Also helping with the shutout was Mike Reardon, recovering two fumbles, and Tristen Dougherty who intercepted a toss and ran it back for a defensive touchdown late in the fourth quarter to make the score 19-0 and put the game out of reach for Farmingdale.
The boys are home this weekend, Saturday night at 730 p.m. vs. Malverne, and hope to see everyone in the town cheering them on. They send special thanks to the BayGull store for donating breakfast for the team before the game.
