Making Waves

Commentary By Jane Deacy

Jane Deacy Jane Deacy When the phone didn’t ring on Wednesday morning, I thought my phone was broken given the number of phone calls I had been receiving, but then I realized that Election Day had come and gone so I would very likely not be receiving all that much mail either. And with the Special Election we have a new Congressman Bob Turner and Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder. Congratulations to you both and I am so very happy to have been a candidate for the NYS Assembly in this historic Special Election. The official tally will be completed this week by the Board of Elections. We certainly made some waves this time around.

The Assembly run, which was overlaid by the 9th Congressional run, brought out a record 15,000 voters, more than double the turnout of other Special Elections and you are all to be congratulated for having your voices heard and your votes counted. I so enjoyed meeting so very many people and learning the many issues that affect us here in the 23 AD and I will continue to stay involved.

Last November, Bob Turner ran for Congress and it was truly a grass roots effort. On September 13, 2011, the grass roots effort once again kicked in and historically propelled Bob Turner to Washington to represent us in the 9th Congressional District. I could not be more proud of the many family members, friends and grass roots volunteers who helped me in my bid for NYS Assembly, to reach out throughout the summer months. I could not have had the success I did, without your help, financial support, prayers and endless volunteer hours and I thank you one and all. My campaign manager, Mike Coppetelli, my Field Director- Volunteer Coordinator, Margaret Wagner and my Field Data Manager, James Katen were a team not to have been believed and I am so appreciative of all you accomplished. My strides were a result of your efforts and I thank you. It was so very wonderful to see volunteers and voters of all ages, engaged in the process and I certainly hope that this trend continues. We all make a difference and we have certainly shown that to be true here in these two races.

I invite all Registered Republicans to become active in one of the three Republican Clubs in our district, the Angelo Graci Club in Ozone Park, the Ronald Reagan Club of Howard Beach and the Rockaway Republican Club. Their meetings are posted in the local papers. The three clubs will be coordinating a registration drive within the district. In addition, I am continually looking for Republican poll workers, so please feel free to contact me at jane.deacy@gmail.com if you would care to work in the General Election this coming November so I can process your paperwork.

We have much to be proud of here in the 23 AD and the 9th CD and I thank you.
