Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation celebrated Adult Day Health Care Services Recognition Week with very special daily activities for its registrants. Mary Ellen Towey, R.N., director, Adult Day Health Care, and her staff enjoyed the special festivities as well. “Although every week is really Adult Day Health Care Services Week here, we always add a few extra things for our registrants to enjoy during this recognition week.” And, enjoy they do! This week the registrants have made beautiful hats, enjoyed a Koffee Klotch, Fashion Show, Ice Cream Social and this Friday is a favorite – Fried Chicken Friday! These activities are in addition to their regularly scheduled daily events such as exercise programs, music, movies, educational activities and games, so the week has been packed full of exciting projects.

The PCECR Adult Day Health Care will also be hosting an Open House for all community adults and their families on Friday, September 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free blood pressure screenings, health education and nutrition counseling will be available.

The Adult Day Health Care Program is a personalized daily program for adults, which fosters independence, self-esteem and dignity while providing unique and comfortable social opportunities. The program is based on a medical model which provides a full range of medical, nursing and support services including health monitoring, education, prevention and case management.
