Hot Dog! Bob Turner takes over Weiner’s seat.

Breezy Pointer, Bob Turner won the Congressional seat vacated by Anthony Weiner. With pride in our hearts we wish him the best of luck. What a tasty news bit.

Did you place your vote for Jane Deacy who was running in the local district? I ran into her at the Mardi Gras Parade asking to come out and vote for her September 13th. Along the route was Vera Lynch whom I haven’t seen in years and she looks the same. I was astonished when she told me she was 90 years old last March. Keep up the good work, Vera. Oh! And God love her, I ran into Maria ne’ Danzilo whose mother was a very close and cherished friend of mine. She and her husband Peter were so kind to me. I shared many a holiday with them and their beautiful family. I will always be grateful to them in my time of need. Terry Willams who runs the parade said this year was the biggest Mardi Gras Parade they have ever had. Kathy Duffy who’s Mom, Pat was a dear friend, had some startling personal news for me. Kathy is doing fine and so is her sister, Maura and the rest of the family. Sarah McCarthy and Brian Sararis are soon to be engaged. All floats were creative and entertaining and the funniest award went to the Weiner Gate Wagon which I, too, thought was the funniest. Bruce Jarvis became engaged along with Adam Lynch. The parade ended at the Sugar Bowl, not the baseball field as usual. where awards were announced. All main roads into Breezy Point remained free without impairment of traffic.

Costa Rica held its reception at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in NYC. I had received a one night stay when I attended the opening of their new restaurant, New York Central above the lobby and took advantage of it. They have renovated the entire hotel all the rooms and lobby not yet finished.

Upon entering the large corner king-sized hotel room there was an ice bucket filled with ice and a bottle of white wine accompanied by a plate of hors d’ouerves and a bowl of fruit to welcome us. The service was impeccable and it most certainly is a great stay in NYC so centrally located near Grand Central Station and a short bus away to Times Square. If you go downtown around the Wall Street area and the 911 memorial there is the Wall and Water Restaurant in the Wall Street Hyatt Hotel which is elegant, modern and very fashionable.

In the hotel lobby the sofas are in gold and chairs in silver carrying out the money theme of Wall Street. In the restaurant the design on the curtains is of the dollar bill. It has only been open one year and a half. It is pricey, but the food was excellent and Chris, our waiter, was very accommodating and informative.

Travel to Costa Rica, surrounded by Nicaragua, Caribbean Sea, Panama and Pacific Ocean. San Jose is the capitol with direct flights from USA. If you are a diver this is your paradise. At INBioparque you will find waterfalls, birds of various species, iguana, toads and tarantulas, rainforest, snakes, barnyard animals and more. Beautiful hotels and resorts, water rafting, horseback riding, Sun Tours $2,185pp with Arial Tram Arenal and Arenal hanging bridges, National Park, Corcovado National Park and San Jose to depart. Least expensive 7 days $1445, Torugero and Tropical Forest bring children and grandparents for adventures of lifetime.

I attended the Phoenix Arizona presentation and lunch at Alfama Restaurant, 214 East 32 Street, anew Porugese restaurant, small and intimate, serves flame sausages, pork with clams for the unusual. Hoteliers from Phoenix spoke about their properties and I was impressed with the Montlucia Four Seasons in Scotsdale, and Sheraton Wild Horse Resort and Spa. They handed out a new Native American Cuisine recipe book from American Arizona’s Kai Restaurants.

At the Gift Show at the Javit’s I came across the new Golf Senoglove. It monitors your grip to help steer the ball in the right direction. Lulalu decorative paste ups easily put trees and flowers on walls to redecorate rooms. The latest hat on the market for fall is the Fedora and some nice ones from Jeanne Simmons collection.
