Carlito Henry, 18, tried to steal the backpack of the 40-year-old victim at around 12:30 a.m. on September 1. Henry punched the man repeatedly for not surrendering his belongings. He eventually ran off without mugging the victim, despite kicking him while he was lying on the ground and trying to pry the backpack off his back.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Mott Avenue and Caffrey Avenue in Far Rockaway. Henry was arrested late that day and arraigned at Queens Criminal Court on charges that include attempted robbery and assault. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court October 4.
