BCHS Wins Via Forfeit: FRHS Loses
Beach Channel/Channel View won their first varsity football game of the season without stepping on the field. The Dolphins earned a victory via forfeit last Saturday afternoon as Columbus High School informed the PSAL that they did not have the needed 22 players eligible to compete.
Beach Channel coach Victor Nazario was informed the night before the game that Columbus would not be able to play. The players were informed on Saturday morning.
“My kids were not happy to win on a forfeit. They wanted to play and I was happy to see that,” Nazario said.
The Dolphins will get a chance to play on Saturday (12 p.m.) at home against Automotive (0-1). The Pistons lost 30-0 last week to Bayside. FRHS Forfeits: On the other side of the peninsula, Far Rockaway Educational Campus had to forfeit their PSAL Cup Division varsity football game against Bryant High School because they lacked the required 22 players eligible to field a team.
They have remedied that situation by having 25 players on their roster. That will give them enough players to have a game at 11 a.m. on Saturday as they take on Cup finalist Petrides (1-0).
