Come Hear The Bay’s Story

The life and history of Jamaica Bay will come to life in “The Jamaica Bay Story,” a multimedia presentation by Rockaway historian Bernie Feuer. The Rockaway Artists Alliance will host this event on Sunday, September 25 at 1 p.m. at their sTudio 7 Gallery (Building T-7) in Fort Tilden.

A presentation which weaves together pictures and words, “The Jamaica Bay Story” will invite viewers to view historic pictures of the Bay and learn about its rich history.

Feuer, known for his informative and well received lectures, will guide his audience through the lives of the Native Americans and early settlers who lived by the Bay and on its bounty. They’ll also learn about the activities, commercial and otherwise, in the 19th Century and about plans to do away with the Bay.

The “Jamaica Bay Story” will cover the devastating plane crash that occurred in these waters. The RAA and Bernie Feuer invite all to take a walk through history and dip their toes in the past of a most beautiful and unique body of water known as Jamaica Bay. All are welcome.
