Charles F. Bauer

Cable Splicer

Charles F. Bauer, a longtime Rockaway resident, died September 3.

Bauer was born in Ridgewood, New York on May 25, 1928. He was a cable splicer for Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Bauer was a member of the V.F.W and Catholic Club in Breezy Point.

Bauer was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia.

He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Hamill (Michael); brother, Ray Bauer; sister, Joan Murphy; grandchildren, Joanna McLeod and Michael Hamill Jr.; great-grandchildren, James and Kayla McLeod; nieces and nephews, Anne Marie, Jimmy, John Murphy and Billy Bauer.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass took place at St. Thomas More Church, Breezy Point. Interment followed at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
