World Trade Center Steel Arrives At Tribute Park

A piece of steel from the World Trade Center that will be unveiled on September 11 arrived at Tribute Park this week. The steel made its journey from a hangar at John F. Kennedy Airport to Tribute Park on Beach 116 Street and Beach Channel Drive. The 5,300-pound piece of steel was recovered from and used as evidence in the World Trade Center investigation. It was then awarded and released to the Friends of Tribute Park. To date, it will be the only officially documented piece of steel to sit in a New York City public park.
